Spadewerx is a project to provide professional trail maintainance to the mountain bike trails in Whakarewarewa forest, Rotorua. Spadewerx is funded by local businesses, individual contributions and sale of merchandise. The trails in Whakarewarewa have historically been maintained by trail adoptees, volunteers and PD crews. Spadewerx aims to add to this resource, not replace these fantastic efforts. You can check out the work on the trails here

For those who do not know me, my name is Mark Upshall, I am the Trail adoptee of Huckleberry Hound and Little Red Riding Huck, so up to now most of my volunteer efforts have been on these trails, I have also put in quite a lot of time on the Corners trail helping the trail bed in and provide additional drainage.
One of the great things that has happened with this project is the amount of people that have come and joined me when I have been going out. Many of these riders are not trail adoptees or guys that have worked on working bees, so it is fantastic that this project has provided another way to connect riders/volunteers with the forest. This also means that much more work is acheived.
It can't be stressed enough though, without the support of my sponsors I would not be able to spend as much time in the forest as I do, and there would be a lot less work being done. Please support the businesses that support Spadewerx. Thank you.
